PONDA: Usgao villagers expressed concern on Sunday over the rising migrant population in the village.
At a meeting held in Adinath Mandap Hall in the village, the villagers expressed concern over migrants adopting surnames of Goans. The meeting was attended by 110 villagers. They have demanded that the police verify antecedents of the migrants who have settled down in the village.
The villagers claimed that most of migrants have settled down on comunidade land by constructing houses while some are residing in rented premises.
