Lockdown: ‘Other’ shops open in Curchorem market

With main fish market shut, fish mongers sell fish at different locations

CURCHOREM: Some othershops opened in Curchorem market on Saturday amid Central and State governments relaxing some more curbs by allowing industries and stores to resume operations.

Though most establishments in the Curchorem market remained closed, those selling sports goods, hardware and cloth opened. 

Medical stores, ATMs, petrol pumps and stores selling essential items commodities,  private doctor’s clinics, bakeries, welders, stationery, electronic appliance repairers, two-wheeler spare part dealers and mechanics were operational. However, the main fish market was shut but many fish mongers were found selling fish at different locations within the municipal limits.  Vegetable items including tomatoes, onions and chillies were available in the market.

Quepem Deputy Collector Rohit Kadam said the State government will decide which additional stores/establishment will be permitted to open as per Central Government guidelines.
