Curchorem: Many people in Curchorem were seen standing in a long queue to buy their essential commodities in the market area as some of the grocery shops were opened on Wednesday.
As some grocery shops still remained shut, it is learnt that flour has gone out of stock in the shops, which were open and therefore people were seen struggling to buy flour from the two flour mills, which were functioning in the main market.

Besides the grocery shops, only three Goa State Horticulture Corporation outlets where seen opened with limited stock of vegetable like ‘Bhendi’, cabbage, cauliflower, ‘French beans’, green chillies, onion, potatoes and tomatoes. Milk was available as usual.
When it was brought to the notice of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson, Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar, that people are still struggling to buy flour and vegetables, he said that bakers have been asked to start door-to-door delivery of breads every day.
“Today being the first day of supply, only limited stock of vegetables has come but from Thursday more quantity and variety of vegetables will be given to horticultural outlets,” said Hodarkar.
Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) local head Dr Vinayak Buvaji said that except for one, all other private hospitals in Curchorem-Sanvordem are functioning as usual with Outpatient Department (OPD) restrictions.
“Doctors in the hospitals are attending all the emergency cases and if we cannot manage their cases then we refer them to a specialist,” said Buvaji, while adding that he has asked the doctors who have only clinics, to advise their regular or any patients telephonically if it is a minor case, and in emergency cases, to refer them to hospitals where doctors will attend them.
