MARGAO: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Yuri Alemao has criticised the condition of Lohia Maidan in Margao – a day before Goa’s Liberation Day.
“On the eve of Goa Liberation Day, the commode on the footpath of historic Lohia Maidan at Margao reflects the open defecation free Goa under BJP Government. Most unfortunate that refurbishment of Lohia Maidan still remains incomplete,” said Alemao on Sunday.

Releasing a video of a commode and beggars on the footpath of Lohia Maidan, the LoP charged that the BJP was neglecting maintenance of historic places and insulting Freedom Fighters.
“Monuments, documents and symbols linked to Goa Liberation Movement need to be protected and preserved for posterity. I once again appeal to the Chief Minister to notify all places of historic importance. Renovation and refurbishment of all such places needs to be taken up on topmost priority,” said Alemao.
