TIVIM: Fearing a loss of their jobs, a number of worried workers employed in mining activities from Sirsaim have sought the intervention of the panchayat.
This issue was discussed at the Sirsaim gram sabha, after people pointed out that many of the local workers were being retrenched.
The locals who are employed at the firm and fearing removal attended the gram sabha and sought panchayat’s help. Sarpanch Gokuldas Khanolkar said the whole village and the panchayat was with them and it would be seen to it that no one is removed, else the company will have to face the consequences. He assured the workers not to get worried about any fear of being removed.
The other issue that figured prominently was the land admeasuring about 5,000 sq mtrs that was allotted by the Communidade to the Sirsaim Panchayat some years back.
Locals sought to know whether there was any truth in rumours that the Communidade was trying to get its land back. The locals wanted to know what action the sarpanch will take in such a situation.
Sarpanch Khanolkar said he also had heard such rumours but insisted that the land donated to the panchayat would not be returned to the Communidade at any cost back and the panchayat will seek to set up a project in the allotted land.
Locals also voiced their grievance about water shortage, the sarpanch replied that he will send a resolution to the PWD.
