LS Speaker chief guest for Goa assembly jubilee

PANJIM: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will be the chief guest at the closing function of Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Goa Legislative Assembly on January 9 at Kala Academy, Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Rajendra Arlekar announced.
The function will witness the felicitation of four surviving members of the first legislative assembly of the Union territory of Goa Daman and Diu – Atchut Usgaonkar, Gajanan Raikar, Teotonio Pereira and Mohammed Ali Jivani. So also the 10 women members of the assembly including current Environment Minister Alina Saldanha, current MLA Jennifer Monserrate, Victoria Fernandes, Shashikala Kakodkar, Sangeeta Parab, Phyllis Faria, Fatima D’Sa, Farrel Furtado and Nirmala Sawant will be felicitated.
The function will also witness the felicitation of other distinguished Members of Parliament and other members who have served as MLAs in the past. During the year a whole host of programmes were held in the state.
