Lucky 7 salvage operations begin

PANJIM: The salvage operation of offshore casino vessel M V Lucky 7 commenced on Tuesday with an amphibious dredger making way for the huge vessel to be pulled into deeper waters.

PANJIM: The salvage operation of offshore casino vessel M V Lucky 7 commenced on Tuesday with an amphibious dredger making way for the huge vessel to be pulled into deeper waters. Salvage company, Arihant Ship Breakers, transported its equipment from Mumbai, and it was brought till Miramar in the wee hours.
“The dredger is clearing the sand around the area so that the vessel can be pulled into deeper waters. The exercise began on Tuesday afternoon following a series of inspections,” said a source. 
The vessel, owned by former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda’s firm Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd had turned around and beached itself on the Miramar shoreline creating a possible risk to visitors on the beach and property besides the environment.
The source said that the phase-I of the rescue plan will take around 2-3 days after which the towing operation would begin.
