PANJIM: The engine of M V Lucky Seven, the sixth casino, promoted by Golden Globe Hotel Private Limited, has been found to be in working condition following an inspection by Captain of Ports. The vessel is currently anchored around 5 to 6 nautical miles from River Mandovi.
The inspection report has been sent to the government for approval following directions from the High Court. Captain of Ports James Branganza said, “File has been sent to government for approval and the court would be informed accordingly.”
He said the promoters were supposed to submit their requirement to get vessel in the river which has not yet been given. Braganza said the engine is in working condition but to be on the safer side additional security needs to be provided.
The High Court of Bombay at Goa on June 19 allowed M V Lucky Seven to enter River Mandovi, but first asked that it be inspected. The matter will come up in the court for hearing on Wednesday.
The Court had asked the Captain of Ports to survey the vessel which is in the sea and inspect its engine condition and to take a call if it needs to be brought in by towing.
Golden Globe Hotels Private Limited had prayed before the court to direct the Goa government to allow the vessel to moor in River Mandovi as the vessel, which is currently in the sea and in the jurisdiction of MPT, is being damaged due to the high saline content.
M V Lucky Seven has been waiting to enter River Mandovi since May 19 after the government had decided to renew the expired license.
