CUNCOLIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Luizinho Faleiro kicked off the Congress election campaign from Navelim constituency at the Minority Mela at Davorlim.
The All India Congress Minority Committee president Khurshid Ahamad Sayyad, Goa Desk chief Chella Kumar, Opposition leader Pratapsingh Rane, MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, M K Shaikh and other dignitaries were present.
At a jam-packed auditorium, which was attended by Muslim community voters, Faleiro came down heavily on BJP.
Faleiro charged, “BJP is suppressing the voice of minorities and Dalits. BJP government is anti-farmers, anti-worker, anti-Muslim anti-Dalit and anti-poor, but pro-industrialist.”
Faleiro assured to provide free water and electricity to minorities if Congress comes to power. This government has raised taxes on everything. Inflation has skyrocketed. The BJP governments in the State and at the centre have failed in all fields, he charged.
Speakers at the meeting demanded that ticket be given to Luizinho Faleiro for the upcoming Assembly elections to contest from Navelim.
When questioned on weather he would contest from Navelim, Faleiro said that he would reveal his plans soon.
Rane called upon the minorities to support the Congress in coming elections.
“AAP is the second face of BJP, Chella Kumar charged. Criticizing Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, he said, “How can an educated CM claim to give special status to Goa when he failed to do so to his own state.”
It was first time after Congress debacle many new and old leaders were present for meeting. Some of them demanded that tickets be given to the youth.
