MARGAO: The Macasana gram sabha on Sunday resolved to allow Roque Carvalho to erect the mobile tower as proposed by him earlier as the Church authorities have rejected the villagers’ demand to erect the tower in church property.
It may be recalled that at an earlier gram sabha when the panchayat revealed that Roque had applied to erect a mobile tower in his property, the villagers had demanded that the mobile tower be erected in the church property.
Accordingly, a delegation of the villagers including panchayat members was to call on the Bishop and seek his blessings. However, when the villagers met the church authorities at the Bishop’s Palace in Panjim they were told that the church was not in favour of having the tower in its property.
When the panchayat revealed this to the gram sabha on Sunday, they unanimously resolved to let Roque go ahead with his project and install the mobile tower in his property.
