Margao: Kaun Banega Crorepathi is a stale question for some of the richest in the fray for the MMC polls in margao. And this starts from the very top. The Chairperson Arthur D Silva, has a declared income of Rs 10 crore (yes just his declared income)
D Silva, in his affidavit filed for his candidature has declared over 10 crores of wealth in the form of land and buildings, investments in vehicles and others. Properties ranging from Mercedes Benz cars and shops hotels and other is inclusive in these declarations.
Arthur D’silva who has filed candidature from ward 22 this MMC election has declared Rs 59.56,lakh as his bank deposits, Rs 64.18 lakhs in the name of his wife Bernadette, Rs 45.6 lakhs in his elder daughters name and 23 lakhs 52 thousand 467 in his younger daughters name.
Arthur owns 2 Mercedes Benz executive class vehicles which bear a value of Rs 55. 3 lakh and Rs 30.10 lakh. Other than these vehicles Arthur has another 12 vehicles in his parking lot.
Venkatesh Raut Dessai who is one of the members of the Fatorda Forward panel has filed candidature from ward 23 and has declared a total earnings of Rs 4.75 lakh for himself and his wife
On the other end of the spectrum are those who are not yet lakhpatis. Sachin Satardekar who has filed candidature from ward 19 who has come a really long and hard way. Sachin has a very low income and hasn’t filed Income Tax. He has Rs 5000 as cash in hand and Rs 2500 rupees cash in his bank.
For the last 4 terms he had been with the Margao MLA Digambar and now Prasand Onskar, who has been with Margao MLA and former CM Digambar Kamat for the last fourterms, has parted away and filed his candidature from ward 22. PWD Contractor by profession Onskar has total income of Rs 6.20 lakh annual and yet owns four cars and one two-wheeler Onskar has also declared a flat in Aquem worth Rs 25 lakh and a shop worth Rs 30 lakh in Comba.
Digambar Kamat’s foot soldier Damodar Shirodkar hasn’t declared his income as his income is low.
However, he has declared some deposits in bank worth Rs 5.25 lakh.
Chidambar Chanekar has filed candidature from ward 10. He has 4 properties like flats and shops in his name and also owns 3 four-wheelers and 3 two-wheelers in his name. Chidambar has shown a total income of Rs 7.5 lakh in his and his wifes name.
