The legislators also castigated the minister for failing to commence any new industrial units even as the government claims to have approved 46 new proposals.
Amidst the noise and allegations, the minister informed the House that the Investment Promotion Board has so far granted in-principle approval to 46 new projects with investments of Rs 3752 crore and generation of 8863 jobs.
Naik also spoke about formation of a government committee headed by him to ensure that the new industries coming up employ 80 per cent locals and so also to study the current job strength in existing industries, which seek permissions for expansion of their units.
“The government has proposed incentives to all those industries which provide 80 per cent jobs to locals,” he said. The minister was supported by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who told the House that the IPB has made it mandatory for new industries to be environment friendly and reserve 80 per cent jobs for locals.
The question was raised by Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, who along with Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai castigated the government over job creation.
Khaunte also said that despite notifying the single window system, new industries are forced to take permissions from CRZ and Town and Country Planning. “It is sad to see that of the total 46 new units, not a single has commenced on ground so far. They are caught in bureaucratic hurdles,” he said.
