PANJIM: Goa Mahila Congress Committee (GMCC) on Friday demanded that the police not succumb to political pressure and thoroughly investigate the dowry harassment case involving BJP Vice President Anil Hoble and his family.
A GMCC delegation led by President Pratima Coutinho met PSI Sandhya Gupta, investigating the case, urging her not to fall for any political pressure while conducting the probe. “Hoble may be part of BJP which is ruling the State at present. But he is booked for serious charges and hence there is need to have a thorough investigation,” Coutinho told media persons after the meeting.
Coutinho also met the victim, Hoble’s daughter-in-law, and extended the party’s support in the case.
“She has been brutally assaulted by her husband and in-laws. The six-year-old child has in his statement revealed that his mother was beaten up by the father and grandparents. There is enough evidence against the Hoble family,” she said.
