Main accused in Phogat death case granted bail

PANJIM: Sudhir Pal Sangawn, the main accused arrested in the Sonali Phogat death case was granted bail by the Additional Sessions Court, in connection with the offence of possessing variable quantity of drugs, where the latter was drugged last August and was found dead.

Sangwan was in custody after he was found in possession of drug Methamphetamine weighing 2.20 gm on the night Sonali died in suspicious circumstances at a shack in Anjuna. The second accused in the case was recently granted bail by the Principal Sessions Court in similar NDPS matter.

As the court observed that the drugs seized from the accused Sangwan is of small and variable quantity, the alleged contraband being in small quantity cannot be ruled out.

The Court has also observed that since the toilets in shacks are accessible to all guests who come for parties or otherwise for food, liquor, etc, the recovery of contraband from toilet flush tank cannot be said to be in exclusive possession of Sangwan which is a factor that also helps the accused to get a bail.
