PANJIM: In a major setback to BJP, former BJP National executive member of Yuva Morcha Gajanan Tilve along with eight youth leaders joined the Congress on Sunday alleging that the saffron party is left with no principles.

“BJP’s motive is to do anything for power. There exists no principles in BJP, this party has now changed. This forced me to exit BJP and join Congress. I am hopeful that Congress will win with a majority and will form a government,” Tilve said as he took a potshot at BJP.

He alleged that BJP has forgotten the ethics of former Chief Minister (late) Manohar Parrikar and the present leaders don’t want to continue with his legacy.

“Those leaders who once badmouthed the BJP and CM are being welcomed with open arms. This is not what we expected from BJP. Many youth had joined the party because of Parrikar but whatever is currently happening in the party has hurt many of us,” Tilve added.

He further said that Shivoli, from where he hails, is lagging behind in development. “I am hopeful that Congress will help us to develop our constituency,” he said.

Congress Goa In-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao in whose presence Tilve joined the party, said the former BJP youth leader’s entry will strengthen the Congress party. “Pan-India and in Goa, BJP has failed. It has no principles, no ethics, no morality and it is the most corrupt government,” Rao said.

He said that youths are frustrated as there are no jobs, and even they have to pay for jobs. “It is surprising that BJP ministers and MLAs are levelling charges against the government. But BJP is in no mood to make enquiry,” Rao added.

He further said that people will reject BJP in the Assembly election. “Only Congress can give a stable government. I feel happy that young leaders with commitment and knowledge of politics are joining Congress,” he said.

Opposition leader Digamabar Kamat, also present at the induction program along with the others, said that youths have come to know that BJP has killed democracy and hence they are getting attracted towards Congress.

Sanket Parsekar, Vinay Vaingankar, Om Chodankar, Amit Naik, Zeon Dias, Basil Braganza, Nilesh Dhargalkar, Pratik Naik and Nilkanth Naik were among others who have also joined Congress.
