Majorda locals protest over absent VP secretary

MARGAO: The Majorda-Utorda-Calata villagers marched towards the Panchayat condemning the absence of Panchayat Secretary Siddesh Faldessai.

The villagers are troubled as they have been waiting to get their works done from the past 2 months. Nearly 30 to 40 villagers coined their protest over the irregular panchayat Secretary. The villagers have demanded an Administrator to be put in the panchayat and help the villagers with their essential works. The panchayat body meet hasn’t happened for 2 months.
The Deputy Sarpanch Georgina Mascarenhas told Herald that they have been writing to the BDO, Panchayats Directors and also to the Panchayat minister for 2 months for a permanent Panchayat Secretary. “I have met the Panchayat Director and Panchayat Minister twice in the last one month but there is little change in the situation” told Georgina.
One of the villager told Herald that the Secretary used to be in the Panchayat on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and the remaining days he was in Bogmallo Panchayat. But recently he completely stopped coming to duty and only signed the muster roll and disappeared. “People need income certificates, Affidavits for the school children and in absence of the Panchayat Secretary the people are stuck” said Joaquim Fernandes.
