VASCO: Mormugao Mamlatdar officials on Thursday held a site inspection following a complaint by Chicalim resident against alleged illegal land conversion in Survey Numbers 7/1 and 7/2 in the village.
The officials later prepared a report, which will be submitted before Deputy Collector Mormugao for necessary action.
According to the information, on May 24, 2018, Edwin Mascarenhas had lodged a complaint before the Office of Deputy Collector Mormugao alleging illegal land conversion in Chicalim.
Addressing media persons in Vasco, Mascarenhas alleged that “Chicalim Comunidade had leased out a land bearing Survey Number 7/1 to a party for the construction of a school. The licence issued by PDA is in the name of Valen Education Society but till date, the revenue records, which are Form I&IV show Chicalim Comunidade as owners of land bearing Survey Number 7/1. In fact only one part of the land has been leased; however, no partition or mutation has been done. Also the sanad bearing Survey Number 7/2, which is agricultural tenanted land, locked on all sides by land bearing survey number 7/1, has not been obtained, but construction on in both survey numbers has already started and the compound wall separating Survey No 7/1 and 7/2 has been illegally demolished ,” Mascarenhas alleged.
“This is illegal as the party has not done any mutation or partition and permanent possession has not been handed over by the comunidade and despite this, construction has been going on without following TCP rules and other laws. I am hopeful that after today’s inspection, the concerned authorities will take necessary action,” he added. However, Valen Education Society officials could not be contacted.
