Man Booked for Cheating After Posing as GSPCB Official, Collecting ₹14.2 Lakh from Vagator Club

Anjuna Police Station have registered a cheating case against a man accused of impersonating an official of the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and collecting ₹14.2 lakh from a Vagator-based nightclub on the pretext of licence renewal and upgradation.

According to police, the accused allegedly approached the management of Club Goya, misrepresented himself as a GSPCB officer, and induced them to make the payment by claiming it was required for processing regulatory clearances.

Police said the accused is currently in the custody of Calangute Police Station in connection with similar offences.

Authorities further revealed that the same individual had earlier allegedly cheated several other club, restaurant, and café owners using a similar modus operandi.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the fraud and identify additional victims.
