MARGAO: In a tragic accident, a resident of Majorda Veertaksha Nawlaghi, 46, died on the spot when the Mahindra goods van his son Sahish was driving fell into a culvert at Uskiniband, Cuncolim in the wee hours of Sunday. Sahish had a miraculous escape.
Cuncolim police said the accident occurred on Sunday at 5.15 am when the father-son duo was heading to Cuncolim to distribute milk. On reaching the culvert at Uskiniband, a stray calf is believed to have suddenly come in front. Sahish may have tried to save calf and in the bargain rammed against the parapet of the culvert before plunging into the water, they said.
