PANJIM: The Chimbel Gram Seva Kala Ani Sunskrutik Manch has written to Minister for Environment and Forests Nilesh Cabral seeking water for plants and trees planted along the highway from Old Goa to Panjim.

“The Manch wants to bring to your notice that in the monsoon, Forest Department had planted thousands of tree samplings on the sides of Old-Goa-Panjim bypass highway Kadamba Plateau under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) fund. However, most of these trees are now dying due to no water supply,” reads the letter.
The NGO has enclosed photographs of the dried plants stating that the issue was earlier brought before the Deputy Conservator of Forests, North Goa wherein the officer had agreed to look into the matter on top most priority. But the condition along the highway remains the same.
“This is the blind wastage of CAMPA fund/money due to poor planning from the concern authority in tree plantation. Request your good selves to please pay immediate attention to this matter and do the needful to save these trees as much as possible,” the letter further stated.
