PANJIM: Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) said that the construction of the new bridge over River Mandovi will be completed by 2017 and that it will be inaugurated on January 26, 2017.
GSIDC chairman Pramod Sawant and vice chairman Siddharth Kunkolienkar inspected the site on Friday along with GSIDC officials and officials of Larsen and Tubro agency and contractor to review the progress of work on the bridge.
Sawant said that almost 15 per cent of the physical work has been completed whereas the expected rate was 30 per cent. “It was a routine inspection as there were some issues that were delaying the work,” Sawant said.
He said that the hard rock was found while piling in the river which was the reason for the delay. There are almost 350 staff, including engineers, working at three points on the bridge construction.
