PERNEM: The issue of illegal structures mushrooming in the village dominated the Mandrem gram sabha.
The gram sabha witnessed a heated discussion on mushrooming of illegal structures in the village with the locals alleging that a hotel has carried out illegal constructions despite a case pending in the court. They alleged that constructions have come up in CRZ area and the hotel is reportedly in CRZ violation to which the locals demanded an immediate inquiry.
Sarpanch Rajiv Sawant sought from the locals in writing as to what action panchayat should initiate against the violators.
The gram sabha also deliberated on the development works to be taken up in the village.
Locals demanded from the panchayat that all speed breakers in the village be painted so as to avoid accidents.
Locals called upon the panchayat to convene a special gram sabha to seek clarification from the promoter of Mahashira project and sign an agreement as to how many jobs will be reserved for locals.
