PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar urged the Manipal Hospital to continue its thrust towards cancer care as he inaugurated the 250 bedded new multi-specialty wing of Manipal Hospital.

“While introducing super-specialties in different branches, the hospital should not to move away from the original cause of treating deserving Cancer patients,” Parrikar said.

Parrikar also said that the state should work to promote medical tourism especially since it is “one of the fastest emerging states in healthcare, which make such venture all the more important for the people of Goa.”

The state therefore should also promote Medical tourism besides events tourism, wedding tourism and adventure tourism. He said postoperative care treatment of the patients was important in this direction.

The new expanded hospital houses 6 state-of-the-art Operation Theatres, 32 high-end medical and Surgical ICU beds, the latest equipment including MRI and CT scans, catheterization lab and an emergency and causality centre.

The hospital will provide the complete range of preventive, curative and rehabilitative care. Its super-specialty services, besides Oncology, include Cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Nephrology and Urology, Orthopedics, Gastroenterology and Plastic Surgery, among others.

Availability of round-the clock laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services will further enhance patient convenience. In addition, the hospital has provided for uninterrupted power supply.
