MAPUSA: In a remarkable display of courage and swift action, the Mapusa Fire Brigade personnel successfully rescued a 14-year-old from the depths of 45-feet well at Duler. The young victim, hailing from Uttar Pradesh and residing in Duler, narrowly escaped a potentially tragic fate.
The rescue operation was initiated in response to a distress call received by the Mapusa fire station. Shrikrishna Parrikar, in charge of the station, reported that the call came in at 5:17 pm on Saturday, alerting authorities that an individual had accidentally fallen into the well. Without delay, a specialized team of firefighters was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arriving, the firefighters discovered that the well was a 45 feet deep, with water filling up to the 20-foot mark. Undeterred, firefighter Pravin Gaonkar valiantly entered the well, assisted by his capable team. Working in coordinated harmony, they executed a daring rescue operation, successfully extricating the victim from the perilous well.
Following the rescue, the victim was transferred to receive essential medical attention, facilitated by the prompt response of the 108 Ambulance service.
The dedicated crew on duty during this critical mission included Sub Officer Dnyaneshwar Sawant, leading firefighter Vishnu Gawas, driver operator Nitin Chodankar, and firefighters Bhikaji Kaloji, Pravin Gaonkar, Saidatta Arolkar, and Chandrakant Naik. Their unwavering commitment and synchronized efforts ensured the triumphant outcome of the operation.
