“We are opening the market step by step. But I appeal to people not to crowd the market and give an invitation to the third wave. This also implies to the vendors. People as well as vendors must follow the SOPs. We cannot force guidelines on the people because it is up to them to safeguard themselves”, Vaigankar said.

“Soon we will be opening the entire market. However, the weekly market will not take place”, Market Committee chairman Viraj Phadke said.

Though the municipality opened the fish and vegetable markets, some vendors continue to sit on the roadside, which is causing traffic congestion since people stop and sometimes even park their vehicles on the roadside to purchase goods.

Some vendors selling other goods such as clothes, electronics, umbrellas, etc, too have occupied the same stretch.
