Mapusa: The Mapusa market was fully reopened on Friday after the Covid pandemic. Infact it was the first weekly bazaar after the lockdown.
The market was initially opened by 30 per cent capacity and later by 50 per cent after the government announced the unlocking of the economy.
After the government had declared the lockdown, the business activities in the Mapusa market were shut. However later the market was opened for public while maintaining social distancing and following MHA guidelines.
To follow the social distancing norms, only limited number of vendors were allowed to sit inside the market and many had occured the spaces outside the market area.
The Mapusa Municipal Council during that last council meeting had decided to fully open the market.
Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson. Ryan Braganza said, “As it was decided by the council, the market is fully opened to bring back the market situation to how it was before Covid. In next two or three weeks, the market should get back to its original state. Many new people especially locals have started vending, we will try to accommodate these vendors in the market”.
