Roads in Mapusa are getting a facelift with the Mapusa Municipal Council along with PWD, GSUDA and JIKA will be spending around Rs 5.50 Crore.
Mapusa Municipality have tendered to spend around Rs 2 crore to hot mix all the roads falling in its jurisdiction and PWD, GSUDA and JIKA will be spending Rs 4.50 crore to give facelift to all the roads of Mapusa.
This facelift will be given to all the main as well as internal roads of Mapusa.
It can be recalled that when the work of sewerage project had begun in Mapusa in 2013, all the roads main as well as internal roads were dug up and destroyed and the residents of Mapusa endured it for four years. Now the roads of Mapusa are repaired and work on giving them a final facelift is under progress.
Though some internal roads are already hot mixed it is all expected to end by April. This is a deadline given by the municipality for the roads being hot mixed.
Along with hot mixing other beatification works such as Traffic Island at different junctions is also under progress.
Meanwhile the work of the traffic island near court junction is currently going on under CSR activity.
Sources informed that a final AC carpet layer will be laid on the road from Union Pharmacy to Goa Bank which is presently hot mixed but is uneven.
Sources also informed that along with internal and main roads, roads going in colonies will be also taken up since some colonies are commercial complexes.
Talking to Herald Chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council Rohan Kavlekar said,” As per the assurance given, this time all the roads in Mapusa will be hot mixed and ready before the rains. The roads taken up by Municipality will be completed by 30th April”.
