Mapusa suffers power blackout on New Year’s eve

MAPUSA: When everyone is in a celebratory mood on the eve of New Year, the people of Mapusa had to face power shut down for three hours from 7-10 pm.

The locals tried contacting the Mapusa sub-station, but nobody was available to answer the calls. Due to this power shutdown, many cancelled their New Year plans. 
Bir, a Mapusa resident said, “Our children had organized competitions for New Year celebration, but due to this power shutdown, they could not do anything. We also tried contacting the higher authorities and even the chief minister, but even they didn’t respond.”
Satish Govekar, a social worker from Mapusa, said, “For the first time there was a shutdown for so many hours and it was not expected especially on the New Year’s eve, when everybody is in a celebratory mood.”
