PANJIM: A woman from Mapusa has approached the Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC), seeking compensation to the Agarwadekar family, whose house was demolished last month and to ensure that earth moving machinery operators do not indulge in demolition of houses without verifying the document.
The complainant Sushma Karapurkar from Karaswada-Mapusa, has urged the Commission to issue directions to the State government to ban the bouncers in Goa till the State government comes out with a suitable bill or legislation on it.

She has also urged the Commission to direct the State government to grant a compensation of Rs 40,000 for the Agarwadekar family, who became homeless and a victim of abduction and human rights violation.
Karapurkar has also requested the GHRC to direct the Department of Transport to direct all the earth moving machinery owners to refrain themselves from doing illegal demolition of house or building or illegal hill cutting and that these owners should first verify and satisfy themselves that such demolition work or hill cutting work entrusted to them is legal.
Taking cognisance of the complaint, the two-member Goa Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Superintendent of Police, North Goa, and the Director of Transport calling for their reports and to remain present for the hearing on August 2, 2024.
