MARGAO: The Manohar Parrikar government might have handed out assurances to the migrants inhabitants of Moti Dongor or the Goans putting up on the adjoining Talsanzor hillock to regularise the illegal structures.
But, the local Margao and Aquem Communidade are bracing up to oppose any government plan to regularise the illegal structures on Moti Dongor as well as Talsanzor.
In fact, the attorney of Margao Communidade Celsitino Noronha disclosed plans by the two communidade bodies to petition to the government, opposing the proposed regularisation plan. On the contrary, Noronha made it clear that the two communidade bodies will insist on the government to demolish all the illegal structures standing atop the Moti Dongor and Talsanzor as per the law.
“We fail to understand how the government can regularise the illegal structures when it had in the past told the High Court that they are all illegal houses. We will oppose any such regularisation plan tooth and nail,” Noronha asserted.
He said residents had moved the High Court to save their structures from demolition, but the parties have not been given any relief.
Noronha said that there are around 110 illegal structures on the Talsanzor hillock, while Moti Dongor has around 270 illegal hutments. The then Administrator of Communnidades, Sangeeta Naik had on August 5, 2013 had ordered the demolition of the illegal structures on Moti Dongor, but the order was later stayed by the High court following an appeal filed by the beleaguered residents.
“The occupants of the comunnidade area at Moti Dongor are nothing more than trespassers in illegal occupation of the lands of the comunidade, in complete derogation of the comunidade’s right, title and interest in such land. Such occupation of the property of the comunnidade by encroachers is therefore wholly illegal and in contravention of law,” Noronha had submitted before the comunidade Administrator before the order was issued to raze down the illegal structures.
