MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has ruled out state government intervention over the demand for re-investigation into the Margao bomb blast case which has ended in acquittal.
Even as the Social Democratic Party of India has threatened to knock the doors of the judiciary for re-investigation, the Chief Minister asserted that the bomb blast case does not come under the purview of the state government. “The Margao bomb blast case was investigated by the National Investigation Agency, which comes under the control of the Central government.  Where is the question of the state government issuing directions for any re-investigation when the case was investigated by the central agency”, Parrikar said.
Replying to a question, he said those who are demanding re-investigation should direct their demand to the agencies concerned, saying the state government has no role to play in the case.
Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party of India at its working committee meeting held on Thursday resolved to approach the court of law if the government does not take any decision for a re-investigation into the case.
SDPI President Zia Rikarty told the media that the party is firm on its demand for a re-investigation into the case. “We are demanding a re-investigation so that the investigating agency nabs the culprits behind the Margao bomb blast since the Special Court has acquitted those chargesheeted by the NIA. The SDPI is weighing various options, including the option to approach the court with a plea for re-investigation. Right now, we do not want to disclose our strategy, but we will soon announce our action”, he added.
