MARGAO: Trial into the sensational Margao bomb blast case is set to recommence at the South Goa Sessions Court with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) designating Additional Sessions Judge P V Savaikar as the special judge to conduct the trial.
In an order issued by the NIA, Judge Savaikar has been appointed as the designated judge to try the case in Goa. He will conduct the trial in Margao since he has been posted as Additional Sessions Judge, South.
The bomb blast case was transferred to the North Goa Sessions Court around a year and half ago after the Central government notified the North Goa Sessions Judge as the special judge to conduct the trial.
Sources in the know said the prosecution has till date examined 114 witnesses in support of its case.
Around 6-7 witnesses remain to be examined by the prosecution, mostly investigating officers connected with the case, they said.
