MARGAO: Organising the carnival float parade in Margao cost nearly Rs 20 lakh leaving aside the Rs 6 lakh that was given prize money to the various participants. Incidentally, advertising bills amounting to nearly Rs 1 lakh are yet to be paid.
The total expenditure incurred leaving aside the advertising bills is Rs 18,67,172 of which Rs 8,37,568 is yet to be paid. The Accounts Department has not yet completed the required formalities because of which these bills are still pending said Chief Officer Y B Tavde. Nivea Sports Wear, Dcor Designs, Magical Memories, Kanekar Radio, New Word Digital Art have been paid 50 per cent of their bills. Nivea Sports Wear has been paid Rs 1,09,820 for the supply of jerseys and T-Shirts and the same amount is pending.
Dcor Designs has been paid Rs 2,98,750 for the decorations while Magical Memories has been paid Rs 30,000 for video coverage; Kanekar Radio has been paid Rs 2,30,105 for pandal and barristers and Rs 75,255 has been paid to New World Digital Art for banners. All have been paid only half the bill and the remaining amount is yet to be paid. The tiatrists who staged khells have also been paid and they are: Rs 16,000 to Vilitor Fernandes for two khells and Rs 48,000 to Furico Simoes for 6 shows. Besides, Rs 8000 has been paid to Rosario Mends for one show.
Others who have been paid the full amount are Rs 25,000 to Savio Mascarenhas for compering the show; Rs 35,000 to Pure Magic band and Rs 26,707 to Edwin Fernandes for arranging the Queen Momo amongst a few others.
However, those awaiting their payments till date are Parudkar Marketing who have to be paid Rs 7,368; Monginis who are to be paid Rs 35,000, Hotel Sarang Rs 13,800 and the 150 MMC staff who worked as volunteers who have to be paid Rs 300 each. One tiatrist Manuel Xavier Dias has to be paid Rs 24,000 for the three khells that he staged. MMC is also discussing one advertisement bill submitted by a publication as MMC feels it is exorbitant.
It may be recalled that the during the carnival float parade as poll code was in force, the govt had disbursed Rs 10 lakh and balance amount has not yet come. The accounts dept has not yet finished the procedure of finalizing the accounts, the remainder amount has not yet been asked from the Tourism Dept said Tavde.
