MARGAO: The Margao carnival float parade will be held on Sunday from 3.30 pm.
South Goa Traffic Cell Deputy of Superintendent of Police Dharmesh Angle released details regarding the flow of traffic and parking arrangements.
INCOMING TRAFFIC
Vehicular traffic converging from Ponda/Raia/eastern bypass towards Margao will be segregated at Arlem junction and will be diverted on the Nuvem bypass/eastern bypass to proceed to their onwards journey/destinations towards South Goa. Only vehicles of local residents will be allowed to proceed up to Fatorda four-road junction and further their vehicles will be diverted towards Don Bosco College side or towards Ambaji side via Chandrawado junction.
Fatorda-bound vehicular traffic coming from Margao town will be stopped at Borda near Euric Silva House and diverted via Bolshe circle eastern bypass for their onward journey.
All the traffic coming from KTC Margao, Colva, Margao town to proceed at Fatorda will be diverted at old market circle to proceed via Ambaji side or Holy Spirit Borda side for their onward journey.
The route buses coming from Ponda/Raia towards Margao will be diverted at Arlem junction to proceed via Nuvem bypass/ eastern bypass towards KTC Margao.
OUTGOING TRAFFIC
All the Ponda/Raia/Shiroda bound buses leaving from KTC Margao/old bus stand Margao will be diverted at KTC Margao/ old market circle to proceed towards Nuvem bypass junction Arlem junction and onwards respectively.
PARKING
The vehicles of spectators coming to witness the float parade will be parked on the Margao Municipal Council’s open space next to Madel Chapel and on jogger’s park via internal approach roads.
ROAD DIVERSION
Near the old market circle on Ponda Road (SH-5), no vehicles will be allowed to proceed towards the Fatorda side.
At Arlem junction, no heavy vehicles will be allowed to proceed towards the Fatorda-Margao side. At the Fatorda four-road junction, no vehicles will be allowed to proceed towards the swimming pool circle/Ravindra Bhavan side.
At the swimming pool circle, no vehicles will be allowed to proceed towards Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and old market side.
Near the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) market junction Ponda road (SH-5), no vehicles will be allowed to enter on SH-5 road (floats parade route).
At the Borda junction near Euric Silva’s house, no vehicles will be allowed to proceed towards the swimming pool circle/Ravindra Bhavan side.
At the jogger’s park junction near Samrat Garden, no vehicles will be allowed to enter on SH-5 road (floats parade route).
At the SGPDA market junction near Kohinoor Opticians, no vehicles will be allowed to proceed towards the SGPDA except floats.
NO PARKING ZONES
There will be no parking of vehicles on SI1-5 road from Fatorda junction to Session Court Margao on Sunday from 8 am till the conclusion of carnival float parade.
