MARGAO: Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat expressed happiness that the South Goa District Hospital is finally completed after eight long years as it is to be used as a quarantine centre.
He also welcomed Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s announcement that grocery stores will be open for 24 hours and pointed out that he has always been demanding that supply of basic essential commodities should be open and requested the administration to ensure that stocks are replenished regularly.
He asked the chief minister to take all MLAs, corporators, councillors and panchayat members into confidence over the public distribution system of basic essential commodities and said the same should not be hijacked by officials of any particular party.
Referring to videos on social media he said it was shocking that some ministers have stockpiled essentials for distribution amongst their voters and pointed out that this amounted to hoarding andwas in violation of the government directives.
