The beautification and upgradation of Margao’s New Market are nearing completion, with a new roof and enhanced fire-safety infrastructure among the key improvements carried out at the market.
Six fire hydrants have been installed and connected within the market premises as part of efforts to strengthen fire-safety arrangements.

Shop vendors have welcomed the improvements, saying they are satisfied with the work and have noticed an increase in the number of visitors to the market following the upgrades.
The market’s floor tiles are also expected to be replaced after the monsoon season.
Vendor Gopal Naik said the Pimpal Katta area and its surroundings are also expected to undergo beautification works using PWD funds. He said the proposed works would further improve the overall appearance of the area.
