Market tenants deny giving consent to leave and licence pact

PANJIM: The Panaji Municipal Market Tenant Association has denied giving consent to leave and licence agreement as claimed in a notice issued by the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP). Association President Rajendra Dhamaskar, while addressing a press conference on Saturday, urged the CCP to rectify the notice, published in a vernacular newspaper.

“As per the notice by the CCP, the market tenant association has given its consent for leave and license. There was indeed a meeting in connection with the matter but we have not granted any nod. We are operating our business on lease and continue to do so. We therefore request the CCP to rectify the notice,” Dhamaskar said.

Claiming that the vendors and traders have been operating for several years, the association president stated they always want a cordial relation with the government and the authorities’ while the issues should also be resolved amicably.
