SGPDA Chairman Mauvin Godinho has filed a police complaint against Margao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson and vice chairperson accusing them of wrongful restraint, use of criminal force and unlawful assembly.
In his complaint, Mauvin has stated that on December 15, at 10.30 am, in the SGPDA office at Margao, Doris Texeira, Prashant Naik, Babita Prabhudessai, Rajan Azgaonkar and others in furtherance of their common object formed an unlawful assembly, criminally trespassed into the SGPDA office, using criminal force, and locked the same thereby wrongfully restraining the complainant from entering into the SGPDA office along with other members, by locking the office door and confined the member secretary Ashok Kumar and Savio Correia inside the office and did not allow the complainant and others to hold the meeting to finalise the outlined development plan (ODP).
Mauvin has accused them of abusing and threatening him thereby obstructing the complainant and others from discharging his lawful Duties. A complaint under sections 341, 342, 353, 186, 143, 504, 506 (ii) r/w 149 IPC has been registered.
It may be recalled that on December 15, several people from Margao and Fatorda had protested at the office of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) against the alleged hurried finalising of the ODP of Margao and Ponda. Councillors of MMC and chairperson along with vice chairperson and other protesters were seen shouting slogans outside the office. The situation turned serious as the Member Secretary was hospitalised due to health problems.
