Mauvin: govt failed on garbage front

Even as the Deputy Speaker and Cortalim MLA Mauvin Godinho praised his government for its performance in certain areas, he did not hesitate to stress on the fact that govt has failed to deal with garbage problem.
Godinho took up the issue while participating in the general discussion on the budget for 2010-11, on Tuesday, saying site for garbage treatment has not been found in the last three years and thus civic bodies in his constituency are with faced problem. He insisted that the government should urgently solve the problem.
He also said there is an urgent need for fly-over near Dabolim airport to ease traffic because when two–three flights land at the same time — it takes an hour to get out of airport area.
Talking about expansion of the Dabolim airport, he said, Navy is hindering expansion work and the government should handle the issue seriously or the expansion of the airport will come to a grinding halt.
