VASCO: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has become a part of the Group of Ministers (GoM) for “Analysis of Revenue from GST, Real Estate Sector and Issues Related to Lottery”. Mauvin will be placing the data and analysis at the GoM meeting on January 22 in Delhi.
The GoM was constituted at the 32nd GST Council Meeting chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Minister Mauvin calls it a privilege to Goa for being the only person on all three major committees of the GoM on of GST.
Mauvin has been given a task to conduct analysis of the three sectors namely Revenue from GST, Real Estate Sector and Issues Related to Lottery. The minister said that it is a privilege to him and Goa for being part of the GoM for GST on all three sectors. According to the GST Council the appointed minister will be responsible for analysing the State wise trends in GST Collection pre & post GST and further analyse the structural patterns emerging from certain major sectors affecting revenue collection. He will also be responsible for identifying the reasons for deviations in revenue collections compared to the implementation plan and expected revenue.
The minister will have to suggest and provide composition scheme for boosting real estate sector.
On lottery, the minister will be analysing disparity in tax on products/commodities to find out misuse of rates and enforcement of legal framework.
This move was triggered after the GST collection was lower than expected in the implementation stage.
“Many stakeholders have met me with their suggestions and views over these sectors and more are going to come. I have also sought data from all these sectors for effective feedback,” Mauvin added.
