VALPOI: Mauxi villagers at a recently held gram sabha demanded that the panchayat minister take action against Sarpanch Vandana Gawas and other panchas for remaining absent for flag hosting on Independence Day and at the gram sabha.

VALPOI: Mauxi villagers at a recently held gram sabha demanded that the panchayat minister take action against Sarpanch Vandana Gawas and other panchas for remaining absent for flag hosting on Independence Day and at the gram sabha.
The issue of toilets, potholed roads, mobile tower, Bal Bhavan were discussed at the gram sabha, which was attended by around 50 villagers.
The gram sabha took strong exception to the absence of the sarpanch and other panchas at the flag hosting ceremony on Independence Day.
Out of seven panchas, only three were present for the flag hosting ceremony and gram sabha.
The members complained that since the current Mauxi body had completed a year, the panchas failed to carry out even a single development work in panchayat.
The locals accused the panchas of taking revenge on the villagers and that has affected the village development.
Kalpesh Gawas said there is no toilet in Mauxi area and called upon the panchayat to build toilets in public places.
Ulhas Gawas, another villager said, “Our main road and the interior roads are in bad condition. There is no network connectivity in our area and we demand that a mobile tower be installed in the panchayat property.
Another local Datta Gawas demanded that the empty class room, in primary school in Mauxi which is vacant be used to house Bal Bhavan.
Deputy Sarpanch Ashok Gaonkar assured to discuss all the above issues, at the next meeting soon.
He said, “We have already submitted the files of various development works to the concerned government departments, which are pending.”
