MAYEM: Deputy Speaker Anant Shet said he has provided a package of Rs 8,000 per month to 124 truck owners and 18 workers, including arrears for the last six months.
“An additional Rs 4,000 has also been paid to each truck owner per month, who has more than one truck. Other beneficiaries of various schemes include 2,335 women (Griha Adhaar), 148 women (Ladli Laxmi), 140 people (Kanaydaan Yojna) and 64 people (Dayanand Social Security), while 64 people have been provided benefit of a combined Rs 3.8 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” said Shet, while addressing a press conference at Bicholim.
He further informed that Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of new roads in Mayem constituency, the work of which will begin after monsoon. “Rs 9 crore has been sanctioned to beautify Mayem Lake on par with international level, due to which unemployed youth are likely to get employment,” he said.
He said tender for Rs 135 crore for the Chorao-Salvador do Mundo Bridge has been floated and the process of the 850-mtr long bridge is nearing completion.
He also informed about the construction of new by-pass road which will connect Karapur-Virdi-Amona-Khandola-Kumbharbuwa villages. He said issues like roads, electricity, water, bridges, pedestrian bridges, buildings and health facilities have been taken due care.
He said so far he has provided 90 government jobs to the youth from the area and many more youth are likely to get employment within the next three-and-half years with co-operation of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Shankar Chodankar, Gurudas Kerikar, Ladko Kinalkar, Dayanand Karbotkar, Subhash Salgaonkar and other prominent villagers along with panchas and a large number of villaers were present during the press conference at Bicholim.
