MARGAO: District level advisory committee on food safety, nutrition, and healthy diets has decided to expedite the process of setting up the Food and Drugs Administrative (FDA) office in South Goa, at the meeting held in Margao on Wednesday.

Meeting has also concluded with the decision to take up the scheme in South district with regard to making biodiesel out of used oil of food cooking.
The meeting led by Ruchika Katyal, South Goa District Collector, has discussed several other issues related to food safety, nutrition, and healthy diets. All members felt there is an urgent need for an FDA office in South Goa.
Speaking to the media Roland Martins, Co-ordinator of GOACAN said that members have insisted the collector should expedite the process of setting up an FDA office in South Goa.
“Business should also grow and we are not against anyone’s business. But sometimes the impression is created that the whole process of licensing is affecting the business. However, the good news is that just one month back the government has relaxed the licensing procedure for the self-help groups, and this is going to be a big boost for certification”, he stated.
