PANJIM: Armed with interim anticipatory bail, mining firm owner Harish Melwani again deposed before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the ongoing probe in the massive mining scam.
SIT quizzed him for nearly two hours on Thursday, nearly a fortnight after he had been questioned for about two-and-half hours in the same case. The investigating team had said Melwani has been giving contradictory statements prompting the police to summon him again.
“There have been a lot of contradictions. The inquiry is at a preliminary stage but in the right direction. It will take time to get to the bottom of the truth, and we are certain to achieve this target,” SP Kartik Kashyap told Herald.
Melwani is being investigated in illegal mining case.
