PONDA: During a raid at Nagzar, Curti on Thursday, the Legal Metrology Department seized 150 rice bags on suspicion that the essential commodity was being sold beyond its expiry date. It is pertinent to note that the department had urged the consumers to check the expiry date before buying rice.
It also urged consumers to check the address, date of packing, name of manufacturer, maximum retail price, packer, importer, common generic name, etc.
The officials informed that a massive drive was carried out by the department to inspect rice bags and during the raid they seized 150 rice bags kept for distribution in trading premises. A case has been booked against Sundar Traders at Nagzar, Curti.
The officials found the date of packing on the rice bags smudged which indicates that the dealer was selling rice bags beyond the expiry date.
