PONDA: MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar on Sunday termed the news of no-confidence motion against him as bogus.
He said party activities are held smoothly and alleged that some disgruntled elements are creating vicious atmosphere and are trying to put the party into trouble.
He challenged those who have moved the no-confidence motion against him to reveal their identity before the public.
Reacting to the news of 27 MGP members moving the motion against him for illegally occupying chair without holding elections and general body meeting for past six years, he said, “MGP, which is gaining ground among the masses, was founded by Bahujan leader Bahusaheb Bandodkar. It is party of hard working Bahujan Samaj and has a special place in the hearts of Goans. However, some disgruntled people want to create chaos and confusion in the minds of voters and party workers. This no-confidence motion is part of it. This is a bogus thing and voters and party supporters should not fall prey to it.”
“The motion appears to be bogus. There is no address and phone numbers. If the motion is moved then why didn’t they revealed their identity before the media,” he questioned.
Dhavalikar said, “MGP’s work is functioning smoothly and there is no complaint. Party Audit has been done and the general body of MGP would be called in January. Hence, the question of confusion does not arise.”
He said, “In case of internal disputes in the party it can be resolved by discussion, but it is not right to mislead people and voters.”
Dhavalikar said, “MGP general body is held after three years. But there is also a provision to extend the tenure by two years. The last general body was scheduled in December 2019. However, as ZP election was scheduled in March it was decided to hold the general body after elections in April. Due to COVID pandemic came the elections were postponed by eight months. Now, when we were about to declare the date, ZP polls were announced.”
He said, “The party’s next general body is planned in January. We had even informed the Election Commission on the issue earlier. This matter would be decided at the party’s Central Committee meeting.”
