MARGAO: South Goa ZP Vice Chairperson Wilfred D’Sa retained the high profile Nuvem seat in style, defeating GVP’s Marcelinho Faria by a convincing 2392 votes and has vowed to take on Goa Vikas Party supremo Mickky Pacheco in the 2017 Assembly election from Nuvem.
The GVP supremo, however, has accepted the gauntlet thrown at him by his friend turned foe, saying he will not run away from Nuvem in the coming Assembly poll.
“We had won the quarter final last week when our candidate had defeated Mickky’s nominee in the Loutolim Panchayat bye-election. Today, I have won the semi finals against Mickky’s candidate Marcelinho Faria. And, I look forward to take on Mickky in the finals in 2017 if he is ready for the electoral battle”, Wilfred said. “Mickky had said that he has defeated the heavyweights in his career spanning 14 years. But, I had told the media that I always like to take on those who claim to have defeated the heavyweights. People of Nuvem have voted for development”, he said.
Mickky, on the other hand, said that come what may, he will not leave Nuvem and contest from a any other constituency. “Nuvem is my constituency, I will not run away from here. I will contest from Nuvem and will leave the seat for the right candidate after five years”, Mickky said, adding that the GVP will not restrict itself in Salcete, but will expand and take the party beyond South Goa by 2017 Assembly polls.
