VASCO: Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Rajendra Arlekar stated that Mickky Pacheco could “very much attend” the monsoon assembly session, and that he would make the sitting arrangements if the Nuvem MLA requested it.
Arlekar said that as per the Constitution, Pacheco was eligible to raise his constituency’s issues and participate in discussions with the other MLAs.
“Till date I have not received any request from Pacheco, who is serving a sentence at sub-jail, Sada. However if he presents any such request, I will allow him. But, this time he has to sit on the MLA’s and not minister’s chair. In terms of formalities, I feel he has to first apply with jail authorities, who will then place the same before me. In principal, permissions will be granted,” said Arlekar.
He added, “In terms of arrangements, police will have to bring Pacheco to the assembly. Then we have marshals (speaker’s security) who can take over his responsibility.”
The Assembly’s monsoon session is expected to be held in July and August.
