Mickky remains elusive despite efforts by cops

PANJIM: With the seven-day deadline of the last search warrant issued against the absconding convicted former minister Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco ending, the Colva Police will submit a report to the Margao Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on their latest efforts to nab the former rural development minister.

A police team led by PI Suresh Gaonkar and including PSI Tulsidas Naik returned empty-handed, replaced by a team led by Colva PI Uttam Raut Desai who reached Delhi on Sunday to continue the search for Pacheco.
The application moved before the Supreme Court by Pacheco seeking more time to surrender will come up for hearing on May 11. The review petition filed by Pacheco on April 1 is yet to be heard.
The Nuvem MLA is now absconding for more than three weeks as he has to undergo a six month jail sentence imposed by the Bombay High Court at Goa on July 17, last year in an 2006 assault case.
