Migrant menace increasing around Tivim railway station

TIVIM: The youth of  Tivim submitted letters to the Village Panchayat and the Mapusa Police Station regarding the migrant’s menace at the Tivim railway station and surrounding area on Thursday.
In the letter they highlighted that migrants are illegally staying in the area without any identity cards and legal permissions. They are also involved in many illegal activities and thefts in the villages. Few of the emigrants are staying in rented rooms while the others are staying at an open space near the railway station.
“Thousands come to Goa by train every day and this influx of migrants is unchecked. So many of them encroach into the open places in the village and are involved in many illegal activities as well as roadside businesses. This creates the danger of thefts, rapes and also the supply of drugs supply in our villages. The police and the panchayat have assured action against them,” said Manoj Parab of Revolutionary Goans.
The letter stated that some of these migrants have a criminal background and are residing on a rental basis within the jurisdiction of Tivim. They are also carrying out their business illegally without the valid permissions from the appropriate authority. Some of the vendors are encroaching the roads side and carrying out their business activities without obtaining any permission from appropriate authority.
